When thinking about how the senses, especially the visual, could be activated,
The sun is key.
In integrating a diversity of spaces presenting differential light conditions, the garden builds consciousness around ideas such as illumination, sun exhaustion, light dappling and the relationship between heat and sunlight.
Guided learning
came in the form of suncatcher workshops. Using crayons, markers and other colouring tools on transparent sheets of plastic, students made drawings about love, life, and the people around them. The team then guided them to install their drawings on the big tree in the Garden, while admiring the impact of their colours on the textures of sunlight that shone through.
