The graduating class of 2024 wanted to leave something behind.

We thought:

Why not leave a literal mark?

Beginning with workshops, the Grade 6 class discovered the shape and characteristics of the garden skink/Penny Lizard, a friendly reptile common in the Garden.

Together with the school’s teachers, Fleur Summers guided the students in learning the skink sensorially.

Using their fingers and small tools like toothpicks, they pinched and kneaded what they thought a skink looked like. The finished products, which bear the students’ fingerprints, were then cast and welded by our team before they were unveiled and installed in the Garden.

In the new surrounds, further workshops exploring the skink and other garden friendlies are possible.
